Drumroll…Apple iPhone!
Yes! The Apple iPhone is real! The moment that many of us have been waiting for. And it looks like it might just live up to everyone’s expectations.
Let’s get down to the cool stuff, short and sharp:
- Runs on OS X
- Touchscreen, multi-finger gestures, ignores unintended touches
- Dock with your computer just like an iPod
- 3.5-inch display, 160 pixels per inch resolution
- 11mm thin
- 2-megapixel camera
- Photo viewer
- Quad-band (GSM850/900/1800/1900) + EDGE
- Proximity sensor that senses the closeness of your face
- Light sensor that senses the ambient lighting conditions
- Orientation sensor for auto-changing the display between landscape and portrait orientation
- Virtual key lock, by sliding finger across the bottom of the screen
- SMS mimics iChat, past messages scrolls above
- Virtual keypad (might be harder to SMS compared to real buttons)
- HTML emails (IMAP, POP3)
- MS Exchange, Yahoo! Mail support
- Safari web browser (with tabs!)
- Widgets
- WiFi
- Streamlined Google Maps support
- Battery life: 5 hours talktime, 16 hours audio playback
Whew! That’s a mouthful of goodies! And finally, here’s the most important part, the price and the launch date! US$499 for the 4GB model, and US$599 for the 8GB. Available June 2007, only from Cingular, although support will still come from Apple.
