Facts
1. Wipro has asked 5000 Non-Billable employees to resign.
2. Panic, uncertainity and fear among the employees.
3. No where in the world, employees have been differentiated
by their color of Employee ID tags. This discrimnation is very well exist
in
WIPRO !!
4. Last year wipro hired people in madness @hefty package
from different companies.
5. WIPRO could not generate enough business partly becos of
Re-org/Re-Structuri ng from last 3-4 months & inefficient Sr Management
which leads to sacking to keep the
operating margin in control !
6. In reality, one would see further decline in operating
margin, because reducing task force on account billability includes 15-20% good
performers as well. Do you believe, they
would come back to wipro? Moreover their networks also do not like to work
in WIPRO.
Interestingly, in next 4 quarters wipro
would be paying more money on recruitment in hiring/retaining talent. Its
giving bad effect on the
current employees.
Simple Analogy - Employees Asked to resign = 5000
a. T5 >> 50% of 5000 = 2500 Immediate
retrenchment giving salary of 2 months. It would effect the
current quarter. [till december 2008]
b. T10>> 50% of 5000 = 2500 Retrenchment after 90 days
monitoring again giving salary for 2 months. It would adverse effect on
the
next quarter. [till March 2009]
c. Good Performer but were not billable >> 15% - 20% of 5000
~ 750 - 1000 [should be part of T10]. So whenever next hiring start,
Wipro need to put at
least put 5 times more efforts to on board 1000 good resources which were
foolishly being asked to resign.
d. Operatability would keep on going down till June 2009 and all
employees of WIPRO, their families, career are in danger.
Basic Problems
1. Sr Management's lack of vision and capability to understand the Business
Scenarios.
2. After the exit of Vivek Paul & others, the middle
management were promoted to hold a place in Sr Management was the biggest
mistake which wipro did. Their Jt Desk of
CEO's and other Sr People are inefficient and unproductive.
3. One of the basic problem in wipro is their 10+ yrs [Green tagers employes]
who believe that it is their own company and mostly wipro
runs on their whims & weird thought
process. 85% Green Taggers are inefficient/ unproductive and are responsible for
the politics &
dirty games in the company.
Suggestions/ Advise
1. Wipro needs C or D grade people to manage their support/maintenance kind
of projects. If you are technically OK and little smart,
better refrain wipro or else you would
land in trouble because of Red/Green Taggers, who are mostly
inefficient/ unproductive [getting
low salary] and play games/politics with
the new comers who gets more salary.
2. Green Taggers [10+yrs in Wipro] are arrogant, problem creators for the new
employees in the higher bands because of their influence.
It is better not to join wipro in higher
bands at all.
Better Alternatives of Cost Cutting
1. Reduce the genuine low performer workforce by 25%
2. Reduce HR by 80% on account of huge liability. By the way what they do?
3. Reduce Sr Management by at least 20% specially D1 & above based on performance.
4. Reduce Admin task force by 30% on account of eating company resources and
doing nothing.
5. Keep a vigilant eye over Sr Management expenses, as they keep on travelling
on companies cost doing trivial things.
Predictions -
1. Sacking of employees would continue till June 2009.
Be careful...in joining
such companies where you can be out of JOB without any reason....!!
