Do You Have Enough RAM?
You have no right to complain if you have only 64 MB RAM and try to use your laptop for video editing. Find out the maximum RAM capacity your laptop can support. Go get a capacity you can afford and your computer will enjoy a speed boost. To run modern-day applications you need at least 1 GB of RAM.
Is Your Hard Disk Full to Overflowing?
Is your hard disk chock-full of all kinds of stuff? You may think as long as there’s some free hard disk space, you’ll be alright. The truth is there must be at least 10 % free hard disk space for Windows to perform efficiently. If you have 30GB hard disk space in your C drive, ensure that at least 3GB free space is available. 10 per cent of free space is good. 15 per cent is better. Start backing up your unwanted files and give Windows some breathing space.
Scan Your Hard Disk to Detect Errors
Hard disk errors could be caused by improperly shutting down Windows. You may end up with damaged sectors. To fix the problem, try repairing it using Hp Pavilion XZ200 battery Windows error-checking utility. Right-click on the drive in My Computer and choose Properties. Select Tools and then Error Checking.
Defrag Your Hard Disk
This is a tip that many of you know but fail to put into practice. Don’t wait until your computer moves like a tortoise before doing it. Make it a weekly routine to defrag your hard disk. Click on Start – Programs – Accessories- System Tools and then select the Defragmenter. You must have at least 15 % of free hard disk space before you can start the defrag process.
Terminate Memory-Resident Programs
You never know how many unnecessary programs are running in the background, siphoning off valuable system resources. Some of these programs don’t have icons appearing on the task bar. Click on Windows Start at the left corner of your task bar. Choose Run and type in msconfig. When you click on the Startup tab, you’ll be presented with a list of programs that will automatically run in the background when you start Windows. Locate redundant programs. To remove them uncheck the boxes and restart yourHp Pavilion ZT1100 battery computer.
Replace Your Hard Disk
Does you hard disk run at 5400 rpm? If so, this may the cause of your slow computer speed. Replace your hard disk with one that runs at 7200 rpm and you’ll see a speed boost.
Could Your System be Infected?
If you use your computer to surf the Internet and and download stuff, chances are some virus or malware could have installed itself in your system and started hogging your system memory. This is especially so if you don’t have the protection of an anti-virus program. If you have an anti-virus application already running, uninstall it and try a different anti-virus program. You could also opt to use Symantec’s Free Online Virus Scanner if you don’t want to install a new anti-virus program.
When considering the HP OfficeJet J4680, the main thing to think about is that you get a lot of functionality for the price. This multi-function Hp Omnibook XT1000 battery office device will print, fax, scan, and copy, all at a suggested price of around $130.00 at the time of this publication. That’s a pretty good value for all of the features included, even if some of the functionality isn’t up to par with the more high-end appliances available.
The device’s network connectivity is an overall plus, as the J4680 supports 802.11 b/g wireless networking. Setup for this is pretty straightforward, and can be done through the HP Control Center software, or on the small control panel on the front of the device. This allows you to print wirelessly and share the printer with other computers on your network. Although if you don’t have a wireless router or hub and would like to duplicate this functionality with an Ethernet cable, you are out of luck. It also comes with a USB cable for connecting to a computer both for initial setup and in case you don’t want to use the wireless networking option.
The J4680 holds one black and one tri-color ink cartridge, which currently cost $15.00 and $25.00 respectively. This is about on par with other devices of this class. Although other HP printers allow for a photo color ink cartridge, the J4680 will not Hp Omnibook XT1500 battery support one.
Set-up is a breeze, as all you have to do is attach the power cables and the USB cable, which are included, and then install the print cartridges and software.
The OfficeJet is advertised that it will print 20 black and white pages per minute and 17 color pages per minute, but several people have stated that the J4680 actually prints much slower during field tests. In addition, the J4680 only prints one-sided documents. One feature that is a plus; however, is that this device will print all the way to the edge of the paper, so if you’re printing a photo there won’t be that annoying white border.
The faxing capability of the J4680 is pretty standard – it will support speeds up to 33.6 kbps, and allows for delayed sending, auto Hp F2019 battery redialing, and broadcasting to up to 48 different numbers. It will not send your faxes to you in an email though, so you’ll have to pony up for a more expensive all-in-one device for that functionality. The 20 page automatic document feeder makes faxing large documents nice, as you can just load the pages into it and dial the number.
As for the scanner, the J4680 has a 1200 dpi letter-sized scanner, which is what one would expect on a device of this price. This is just fine for normal everyday office work, although if it’s used in an office where legal sized paper is the norm, such as at a mortgage company, the size of the flatbed would be a problem.
Overall, the J4680 is a nice, solid multi-function device for the money. I wouldn’t pay much more than the $130 for this appliance, but for the price, it can work in both a small office or in Hp F2019A battery someone’s home.
